Two species of the order Lagomorpha inhabit the territory of the Vologda Region (Russia), mountain hare Lepus timidus L.,1758 (common species) and brown hare Lepus europaeus Pallas, 1778 (rare species), as well as their hybrid (“tumak” hare). The morphological and ecological characteristics of the species have been analyzed. A complete bibliographic review of the order Lagomorpha of the Vologda Region is presented.
